Adventure De Taos Lecture Saturday, July 27, 2013

Join us Saturday for our bird-watching Adventure de Taos!

Wild birds are everywhere. We share the neighborhood. Evolutionary pressures compel birds to ex-press themselves in unique song, striking plumage, extraordinary nests and Herculean migrations. They accept our food, but remain wild. The birds bring this wild world right into our yards. Humans are of-ten oblivious to or barely conscious of the birdlife all around them. Applying a little conscious aware-ness begins to reveal a layer of natural beauty that can enhance one’s sense of place and calm a rushed psyche.

Robert Templeton has lived in New Mexico since 1967. He and his wife, Karen Cohen live in Dixon. As a schoolteacher he has taught Music, Electronics, Physics and Math. He began birding in 1995, attending an Audubon Christmas Bird Count in Española. He has been leading bird walks for adults and children in Northern New Mexico for more than a decade. Since 2005, he has worked as a volunteer at a Hawk Watch in Veracruz, Mexico, writing educational materials and teaching a class on raptor migration for interns in that program.

Our thanks to the Friends of the Taos Public Library for sponsoring this series.
