We kept hoping he'd change his mind but Library Director George Jaramillo officially retired yesterday. To send him off, the librarians and volunteers threw him a party - with some delicious results. Photos after the jump.
One thing you may not know about us if you just talk books and computers here... is that we've got some seriously good cooks on staff. You can see their efforts were well appreciated.
As sad as we were to say good-bye to George, it was also an occasion to say hello to some friends we haven't seen in a while. Our long-time volunteer Vivienne, a nonagenarian, stopped by to wish George well.
Those of you who took our computer classes may recognize these two ladies who made a special visit in George's honor. That's the kind of guy he is. Also in the photo is our new director, Shirley Fernandez, whom you will probably recognize as our previous adult services supervisor. If anyone can fill George's shoes, it's Shirley. It's great to see her looking happy at the prospect!
